This report from the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center presents data on domestic violence incidences in the State for 2010.
Abstract
Highlights from this report include: of the 18,239 violent offenses reported to law enforcement agencies in 2010, 12 percent, or 2,193 were for domestic violence offenses; there were 27,470 domestic simple assaults reported to law enforcement in 2010; female victims accounted for the majority of domestic violence victims (75 percent), and 54 percent of the victims were Black, while 46 percent were White; the most common type of weapon used were hands, fists, or feet (46 percent), followed by a firearm (19 percent) and knife (18 percent); and 42 percent of the victims were the girlfriend/ex-girlfriend of the offender, while 23 percent were the wife/ex-wife of the offender. This report from the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) presents data on domestic violence incidences in the State of Alabama for the year 2010. Data for this report were obtained from the Crime Statistics and Information Division of the ACJIC and covers domestic violence incidences for both adult and juvenile victims. Tables and figures
