Abstract
The files on offenses known to law enforcement in 2010 addressed violent crime, property crime, and clearances (offenses closed by arrest or exceptional means). Expanded offense data cover homicides known to police, as well as trends and rates of homicide and the weapons used in homicides. The files on persons arrested include data on arrestees' ages, gender, and race for 29 separate offenses, including murder. Data files on police employment report on the number of sworn police officers and civilian employees. Additional data collections contain hate crime statistics and the number of felonious and accidental in-the-line-of-duty deaths, as well as assaults on officers.
