Abstract
The nature of domestic violence is explained, and the characteristics of domestic violence victims are described. Other information related to the features of domestic violence address the characteristics of an unhealthy relationship, signs of unhealthy boundaries in a relationship, and how to determine whether someone will become a batterer. Information is also provided on shelters for battered women, an escape plan, and how to obtain a protective order. A checklist is provided to guide a woman in determining whether her spouse or intimate partner is abusive toward her. The phone numbers of community organizations prepared to help domestic violence victims are provided, along with the phone number of the Domestic Violence Unit. The types of cases investigated by the Domestic Violence Unit are also listed.
