Five articles focus on law enforcement developments in wireless mobility; and three articles on law enforcement equipment address the latest news in firearms, new lightbars for patrol vehicles, and an overview of tactical headsets.
Abstract
"High-Tech Voice-Video-Data Solutions" reports on companies that offer a broad spectrum of flexible, cost-effective solutions that address current public-safety communications challenges. "Interoperable Public Safety Solutions" focuses on several companies that offer interoperability solutions for maximum efficiency during mission-critical scenarios. "Advanced Voice Solutions" explains why digital recording and data-keeping is an improvement over analog; however, selecting the right software is as important as the transition to digital. "Police Walkie Talkies: Primary to Backup" examines the basic technology of land mobile radios, arguing that digital is not always better than analog. "Cloud Computing Update, Part 2" examines how well cloud computing is accepted by law enforcement agencies and any concerns they have about this concept due to security issues. Regarding the three articles on law-enforcement equipment, "The Very Latest News in Firearms" describes the latest guns on display at the 2011 IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) Convention in Chicago and the 2012 SHOT Show in Las Vegas; "New in Lightbars at the IACP" profiles the latest products from the lightbar industry's display at the 2011 IACP Conference; and "Round-up of Tactical Headsets" describes the latest in quality two-way radio accessories that serve both the military and public safety markets. Articles are also presented from the magazine's various departments. These articles focus on subjects related to law-enforcement responsibilities, education, discipline, social networking, police equipment, and current news. An advertiser index and "product spotlight" are also included.
