This report presents information on the Green Corrections Project.
Abstract
The Green Corrections Project is a three-phase project funded by the National Institute of Corrections and aimed at identifying and implementing environmentally-friendly practices at correctional facilities. This report presents an overview of the project and its primary objectives: understand the green corrections landscape, disseminate The Greening of Corrections report, develop a green corrections community of practice, and provide green corrections technical assistance to States. The report begins with an overview of the work that was accomplished during the first two phases of the project: building a sustainable system publication and dissemination of the publication. A link for accessing the publication is provided in the report. The next section of the report highlights the work of the third phase of the project: developing a community of practice and providing technical assistance to States. Information included in this section covers the application process, and the technical assistance that has already been provided to three States - Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington.
