This article explores and discusses the sociocultural dynamics underpinning urban African-American youths' use and misuse of substances and its connection to the invisible wounds of race-related trauma. A racially-sensitive framework is discussed as an intervention approach designed to address the special needs of urban Africa-American adolescents maligned by, and suffering from, the complex interplay of substance misuse and rage.
