Abstract
The mission of the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program is to recover missing, endangered, or abducted children through the coordinated efforts of law enforcement, media, transportation entities, and other partners by using training and technology to improve response capacities and capabilities and increase public participation. As of December 31, 2015, 794 abducted children have been recovered as a result of the AMBER Alert Program. This report documents some of the major expansions and achievements of the National AMBER Alert Network, including communication channels for alerts, a newsletter for child protection professionals, and training and technical assistance to thousands of individuals, organizations, and conferences. Data are provided on training programs conducted from January 1, 2006 - December, 2015, and for January 1, 2014 - December 31, 2015. Evaluation results for the impact of AMBER Alert training programs are presented. Data are also reported for the following AMBER Alert initiatives: the Child Abduction Response Team Network (CART) and its certification program for response capability; AMBER Alert in Indian Country; and the Southern Border Initiative with Mexico.
