This report summarizes formal training activities of the five sites evaluated under the National Cross-Site Evaluation of Juvenile Drug Courts and Reclaiming Futures.
Abstract
The report is based on data reported by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) and the Reclaiming Futures National Program Office (RF NPO), as well as formal training data reported by representatives at the five evaluation sites. For this report "formal training" is defined as "training that is scheduled by the juvenile drug court (JDC) or another organization, and it may be required and/or paid for by the JDC or another organization." Formal training can include workshops, online courses, seminars, and conferences. The data indicate that the JDC staffs at all five sites received numerous formal training sessions provided by RF NPO and NCJFCJ during the 4-year grant period; however, the number of training programs varied over time and by evaluation site. On average, the sites participated in between 7.4 and 13.2 formal training events per 6-month period. Training events covered a broad range of topics relevant to JDC concepts and operations, as well as various services for youth. These events occurred throughout the grant period. 7 tables
