Abstract: |
“Profile: Mark Simpson” reports on the career of the man who as a sergeant in the Arlington (Texas) Police Department worked the child abduction case of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman. This case, which culminated in the development of the AMBER Alert network, is one of some 20 cases of missing children Mark Simpson has developed while working as a consultant for the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program. “A Pioneer Moves On” reviews the career of Minnesota’s long-time AMBER Alert coordinator Janell Rasmussen as she accepts a position as the Deputy Director for the Archdiocese of St. Paul, Minneapolis, where she plans to continue her work in protecting children. “CART: Child Abduction” reports on Tacoma, Washington’s Child Abduction Response Team (CART) regarding its work with “cold cases” that involve missing children. “Beyond AMBER Alerts” describes how more States are using other alerts for cases that do not meet AMBER Alert criteria. “On the Front Lines: Utah” describes how social media spread AMBER Alert across State lines to save two sisters abducted in Utah. “AMBER Alert International“ reports on a new framework that explains how to set up a child abduction alert around the world. “AMBER Alert in Indian Country” reports on the 2016 National Symposium on Tribal Child Protection and AMBER in Indian Country Leadership Forum. “AMBER Alert Briefs” provides brief descriptions of AMBER Alert activities across the Nation.
