IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUR POLICY TO AVOID MEETING VIOLENCE WITH VIOLENCE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND IT HAS BEEN OUR AIM TO SAVE LIVES AND AVOID INJURIES AND KILLING, SAYS SWEDISH MINISTER OF JUSTICE LENNART GEIJER.
Abstract
GEIJER WENT ON TO SAY THAT IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THIS POLICY SUCCESSFULLY IN DEALING WITH TERRORIST ATTACKS IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE A SUFFICIENTLY WELL EQUIPPED AND EFFECTIVE POLICE FORCE. GEIJER ALSO SAID THAT SWEDEN WOULD TRY TO AVOID HAVING TERRORISTS IN SWEDISH JAILS BECAUSE, UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, A PERMANENT THREAT TO SWEDISH TARGETS WOULD EXIST, INCLUDING SWEDISH EMBASSIES ALL OVER THE WORLD. --IN SWEDISH
