Abstract
THIS DOCUMENT PROVIDES DESIGN DETAIL AND COST ANALYSIS FOR THE FOUR HARDWARE COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM: USER TERMINALS, COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, COMPUTER PROCESSING, AND DATA STORAGE. DESIGN ALTERNATIVES PRESENTED IN NCJ-30454 ARE EVALUATED. IN TERMS OF THE LISTED ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES, AND COST FACTORS. THESE DESIGN ALTERNATIVES INCLUDE USER INDEPENDENT, CENTRALIZED, DISTRIBUTED PROCESSOR, DISTRIBUTED COMMUNICATIONS, DISTRIBUTED PROCESSOR HIERARCHICAL, AND CENTRALIZED HIERARCHICAL CONFIGURATIONS.
