DISCUSSION OF PREDESIGN CONSIDERATIONS, SUCH AS PLANNING, CORRECTIONAL SERVICE NETWORKS, FACILITY COMPONENTS, AND LOCATION AND SITE SELECTION, AND ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINES INCLUDING DESIGN PRINCIPLES AND ARCHITECTURAL COMPONENTS.
Abstract
ALSO CONSIDERED IS THE USE OF A VARIETY OF MECHANICAL DEVICES, ESPECIALLY THE CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION, TO ASSIST THE CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN THE PERFORMANCE OF SECURITY DUTIES. A FEW EXAMPLES OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED AS ILLUSTRATIONS OF FACILITY DESIGNS WHICH ADHERE CLOSELY TO THE INTENT OF THE HANDBOOK GUIDELINES. A LIST OF REFERENCES AND A LIST OF ILLUSTRATIONS ARE INCLUDED.
