A STUDY OF DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS FOR THE LABETTE COUNTY (KS) SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE PARSONS (KS) POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE LABETTE COUNTY PROBATE COURT, AND THE STATE DISTRICT COURT FOR LABETTE COUNTY.
Abstract
THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SERVES 650 SQUARE MILES AND 25,779 PERSONS WITH 15 EMPLOYEES (8 SWORN). THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SERVES 6.5 SQUARE MILES AND 13,415 PEOPLE WITH 33 EMPLOYEES (24 SWORN). THE REPORT IS DATED DECEMBER 11, 1976. RECOMMENDATIONS RESULTING FROM THE STUDY INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A JOINT POLICE-COURT FACILITY, LOCATED IN PARSONS, TO SERVE THE LABETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE PARSONS POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE LABETTE COUNTY DISTRICT AND PROBATE COURTS. IT IS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE INVESTIGATIVE, TRAINING, RECORDS, AND COMMUNICATIONS FUNCTIONS OF THE PARSONS POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE LABETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT BE UNIFIED.
