THE STRATEGIES FOR CLASSROOM CONTROL WITH SECONDARY STUDENTS PRESENTED IN THIS PAPER ARE BASED ON A SOCIAL LEARNING MODEL AND ARE DESIGNED TO OPTIMIZE THE USE OF RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO THE TEACHER.
Abstract
COOPERATION BETWEEN TEACHER AND STUDENT WAS CHOSEN AS A GOAL IN PREFERENCE TO STUDENT OBEDIENCE TO TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS. GROUP NORMS, OPTIMIZING TEACHER REINFORCEMENT VALUE AND REDUCING DYSFUNCTIONAL TEACHER EMOTIONS, ARE DISCUSSED AS THE FOUNDATION OF BEHAVIOR CONTROL. BASIC STRATEGIES INCLUDE DIFFERENTIAL REINFORCEMENT, PRECISE COMMUNICATION AND AVERSIVE INTERVENTION. RELATIONAL STRUCTURING AND REDIRECTING RELATIONAL PROCESS ARE OFFERED AS ADVANCED STRATEGIES. FINALLY, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CONTROL AND COOPERATION IS BRIEFLY DISCUSSED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
