Abstract
THE FIRST EIGHTEEN ARTICLES AND EXCEPTS PRESENT SUCH IMPORTANT BACKGROUND INFORMATION AS LEGAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL DEFINITIONS OF DELINQUENCY, OFFICIAL DATA ON JUVENILE DELINQUENCY TRENDS, TYPES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, AND SOCIAL AND DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF DELINQUENTS. RESEARCH METHODS IN THE STUDY OF DELINQUENCY AND NUMEROUS THEORIES OF DELINQUENCY CAUSES ARE ALSO EXAMINED IN SEVERAL ARTICLES. ASPECTS OF LABELLING ARE THEN DISCUSSED IN RELATION TO AGENCIES OF CONTROL - POLICE, THE JUVENILE COURTS, AND JUVENILE CORRECTIONS. FINALLY, DELINQUENCY PREVENTION IS EXAMINED FROM THE STANDPOINT OF 1) EXISTING GROUPS AND INSTITUTIONS AND 2) NEW RESPONSES TO CONTINUING PROBLEMS.
