THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE DIFFICULTIES INHERENT IN THE DETENTION OF DIFFICULT OR EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED JUVENILES.
Abstract
IT IS SAID THAT IN ORDER TO EXECUTE AN ADEQUATE AND PROPER TREATMENT PLAN. THE ADMINISTRATION MUST POSSESS A PHILOSOPHY WHICH IS CONDUCIVE FOR A TREATMENT PROGRAM, AND THE FACILITY MUST PROVIDE AN ATMOSPHERE WHICH IS FRIENDLY AND SIMILAR TO CONDITIONS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. THERE MUST ALSO BE A DIVERSIFIED STAFF, PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED, WITH AN UNDERSTANDING AND CARING ATTITUDE TO SERVE AS MODELS FOR THESE YOUNGSTERS, AND EACH STAFF MEMBER SHOULD HAVE THOROUGH WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THESE BOYS AND GIRLS.
