THIS REPORT IS AN ADDENDUM TO THE AFTERCARE/PRE-PROBATION FINAL EVALUATION; IT EXAMINES THE POPULATION AND RECIDIVISM RATES FOR THIS PROGRAM FROM FALL 1974 TO THE TERMINATION OF FEDERAL FUNDING.
Abstract
THIS PROJECT PROVIDED AFTERCARE SUPERVISION FOR JUVENILES RELEASED FROM INSTITUTIONS AND PRE-PROBATION REFERRALS DIRECTLY FROM COURT FOR THOSE JUVENILES WHOSE HOME ENVIRONMENT WAS UNSUITABLE BUT WERE NOT IN NEED OF INSTITUTIONALIZATION. THE GOALS OF THIS PROJECT WERE TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM, TO REDUCE THE COST AND LENGTH OF INSTITUTIONAL CARE, AND TO REDUCE THE STATUS OFFENDER POPULATION UNDER CORRECTIONAL CARE. THIS REPORT PRESENTS DEMOGRAPHIC AND ADJUDICATION PARAMETERS OF THE PROGRAM POPULATION THROUGH JUNE OF 1975. A FOLLOW-UP ANALYSIS OF POST-PROGRAM OUTCOMES FOR THE 1972 AND 1973 POPULATIONS IS ALSO PRESENTED; STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED ON THE NUMBER OF JUVENILES HAVING NO OFFENSES, MINOR OFFENSES, MAJOR OFFENSES, AND OFFENSES RESULTING IN INSTITUTIONALIZATION.
