IN THIS STUDY OF THE INMATES OF A SOVIET MEDIUM-SECURITY CORRECTIONAL LABOR COLONY, RESEARCHERS ASSUMED THAT THE PERSONALITY OF A CRIMINAL IS DETERMINED BY HIS SOCIAL ROLES AND VALUE ORIENTATIONS.
Abstract
STUDY FINDINGS REVEALED THAT FEMALE RECIDIVISTS COMMITTED MOSTLY MERCENARY AND PROPERTY CRIMES, HAD A HIGHER LEVEL OF MULTIPLE CONVICTIONS THAN MEN, HAD FEWER FAMILIAL AND WORK-RELATED TIES, AND WERE CHARACTERIZED BY EMOTIONAL INSTABILITY, LACK OF WILL, AND HEIGHTENED IMPRESSIONABILITY.
