FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO ANALYZE BROWNSVILLE'S CURRENT AND PROJECTED NEEDS FOR POLICE SERVICE, AND TO EXAMINE THE EFFICIENCY OF USE OF EXISTING FACILITIES FOR SUPPORTING THE CITY'S POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE PROJECT GOALS, A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE WESTINGHOUSE JUSTICE INSTITUTE EXAMINED AND OBSERVED THE FACILITIES, INTERVIEWS WERE CONDUCTED WITH CITY AND CAMERON COUNTY OFFICIALS AND CITY POLICE OFFICERS, AND RELEVANT DOCUMENTS WERE STUDIED. THE STUDY CONCLUDES THAT DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE UNDERTAKEN AT ONCE. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE NATURE AND LOCATION OF THE FACILITY ARE MADE.
