Abstract
AMONG THE POLICE PROGRAMS AND METHODS THAT MAY PROMOTE PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR POLICE ARE POLICE PROFESSIONALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND INSPECTION OF POLICE ACTIVITIES, MAINTENANCE OF POSITIVE POLICE ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE PUBLIC, PROVISION OF HELPFUL NON-ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES SUCH AS HOUSE CHECKS AND BUSINESS ESCORTS, AND PROVISION OF INFORMATION ABOUT POLICE TO THE PUBLIC AND THE MEDIA.
