A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE ADVANTAGES OF THE OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION DELIVERY SYSTEMS WHICH MAKE USE OF CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES AND RESOURCES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
Abstract
THE ANALYSIS WAS COMPLETED BY THE CENTER FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION UPON REQUEST OF THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS. THE SIX INSTITUTIONS STUDIED WERE THE U.S. PENITENTIARIES IN TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA, ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AND PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA, AND THE FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN TERMINAL ISLAND, CALIFORNIA, TEXARKANA, TEXAS, AND PETERSBURG, VIRGINIA. SOME OF THE CRITERIA USED IN THE ANALYSIS WERE PROGRAM FACILITIES, COST EFFECTIVENESS, TEACHER PERFORMANCE, AND STUDENT SATISFACTION. A SUMMARY OF THE MAJOR FINDINGS AND SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOLLOW THE REPORT.
