THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS FOUR-DAY WORKSHOP (OCTOBER 28-31, 1975) WERE TO IDENTIFY THE NEEDS AND CONCERNS OF CORRECTIONAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATORS AND TO CONVENE A SELECT PLANNING COMMITTEE TO PRIORITIZE THESE NEEDS.
Abstract
ALSO INCLUDED WERE THE CLARIFICATION OF THE MOST URGENT CONCERNS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PLAN FOR IMPROVEMENT. THIS REPORT CONTAINS THE WORKSHOP PRESENTATION ON PAPERS ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: DEVELOPING THE ROLE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN CORRECTIONS, MEETING THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS, DEVELOPING REALISTIC PROGRAMS, AND COOPERATIVE APPROACHES TO VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN CORRECTIONS. THE PLAN OF ACTION IS OUTLINED IN THE FORM OF 16 RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE AREAS OF RESEARCH, PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT, AND COOPERATION. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS A SUMMARY OF THE WORKSHOP PROGRAM, A LIST OF WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS, AND COPIES OF THE MAJOR ADDRESSES. ALSO INCLUDED IS A 20-PAGE BIBLIOGRAPHY OF RESOURCES IN CORRECTIONAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION.
