AN EXCERPT FROM THE WATERGATE SPECIAL PROSECUTION FORCE REPORT WHICH SUMMARIZES THE INVESTIGATION AND ANALYZES THE INVESTIGATIVE PROCESS.
Abstract
THE ASSUMPTION OF THE INVESTIGATORY AND PROSECUTORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES FROM THE US ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IS RECALLED. THE INVESTIGATIVE PROCESS WAS SIMILAR TO THAT EMPLOYED IN FEDERAL INVESTIGATIONS OF 'WHITE COLLAR' AND ORGANIZED CRIME. POLICIES REGARDING CHARGING AND DISPOSING OF CASES ARE ALSO EXPLAINED. PLEA BARGAINING ACCOUNTED FOR THE DISPOSITION OF MOST CASES.
