THIS DIRECTORY PROVIDES A STATEWIDE LISTING OF PROGRAMS AND AGENCIES PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT RELATED SERVICES AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO THE ADULT EX-FELON IN TEXAS.
Abstract
THE RESOURCES LISTED IN THIS DIRECTORY HAVE BEEN LIMITED TO THE TYPES OF SERVICES THAT ARE MOST OFTEN REQUESTED BY THE EXOFFENDER. THESE ARE ALCOHOL OR DRUG PROGRAMS, EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE, HOUSING, LEGAL AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, FINANCIAL PLANNING, FAMILY COUNSELING, FOOD AND CLOTHING SERVICES, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING. THERE ARE A FEW PROGRAMS LISTED THAT DO NOT FIT NEATLY INTO ANY OF THESE CATEGORIES BUT IN THE JUDGMENT OF THE EDITOR THEIR INCLUSION WAS WARRANTED. THE MAIN BODY OF THE DIRECTORY, THE AGENCY BY AGENCY LISTING, INCLUDES THE NAMES, ADDRESSES AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF PROGRAMS AND AGENCIES THAT PROVIDE DIRECT SERVICES TO THE ADULT EXFELON IN TEXAS. THE TYPES OF SERVICES PROVIDED ARE ALSO LISTED. SOME OF THE PROGRAMS OR AGENCIES HAVE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE MET, SUCH AS AGE OR NEED REQUIREMENTS. THESE ARE USUALLY LISTED AND BRIEFLY EXPLAINED. AGENCIES OR PROGRAMS REQUIRING FEES ARE ALSO INDICATED. THE DIRECTORY ALSO INCLUDES THREE CROSS REFERENCING INDEXES: 1) A SECTION CALLING SPECIAL ATTENTION TO PROGRAMS THAT ARE ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF EXOFFENDERS, 2) A 'TYPE OF SERVICE' LISTING, AND 3) A CITY BY CITY LISTING.
