DESCRIPTION OF CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA GEARED TO A LARGELY COMMUTER POPULATION.
Abstract
PROJECT ALERT (AVERTING LARCENIES IS EVERY RESIDENT'S TASK) WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO INVOLVE STUDENTS IN RESIDENCE HALLS IN CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS BUT WAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE COMMUTER POPULATION IN RESPONSE TO AN INCREASE IN ON-CAMPUS CRIME. THE PROGRAM CONCENTRATES ON PREVENTION OF LARCENY BEFORE THE FACT RATHER THAN REACTING TO IT AFTER THE FACT.
