APRIL 21, 1976 REPORT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOBILE RADIO EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME 12,000 PEOPLE LIVING IN AN AREA OF 150 BY 300 MILES.
Abstract
THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS TASK WERE AS FOLLOWS: PERSONAL CONTACT WITH PERSONS DIRECTLY INVOLVED; REVIEW OF THE OVERALL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, PLANS, AND MAPS OF PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE COMMUNICATIONS NEEDS; INSPECTION OF SITE LOCATIONS FOR MICROWAVE AND VHF STATIONS; REVIEW OF SPECIFICATIONS ALREADY PREPARED; AND PREPARATION OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF MICROWAVE EQUIPMENT. BOTH THE UHF MOBILE RADIO DESIGN AND THE MICROWAVE DESIGN INTENDED FOR FUTURE USE WERE FOUND TO HAVE THE CAPACITY TO PROVIDE THE DESIRED REGIONAL OFFICE-POLICE CAR-CENTRAL DISPATCH CENTER COMMUNICATIONS. THE RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS ARE APPENDED. RECOMMENDATIONS RELATING TO THE LICENSING OF SITE LOCATIONS AND THE HIRING OF QUALIFIED DESIGN, INSTALLATION, AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL ARE ALSO INCLUDED.
