THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE REPORT OF A CANADIAN STUDY TEAM, HEADED BY PROFESSOR VANTOUR, WHOSE OBJECTS WAS TO EXAMINE AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE USES OF ADMINISTRATIVE SEGREGATION (OR DISSOCIATION).
Abstract
THE REPORT CONCLUDES THAT DISSOCIATION SHOULD NOT BE ABOLISHED. IT DOES RECOMMEND, HOWEVER, THAT CONDITIONS AND PROGRAMS FOR DISSOCIATED INMATES BE IMPROVED. THE USE OF DISSOCIATION FOR PROTECTIVE CUSTODY (ITS MAJOR USE) SHOULD BE STUDIED THOROUGHLY, STATES THE REPORT. --IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH
