PREPARED FOR THE OKLAHOMA CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL, THIS TECHNICAL REPORT OF APRIL 14 1976 PROVIDES GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION ON DEVELOPMENT OF A VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM WHICH MAY BE USED IN PREPARING A LEAA GRANT APPLICATION.
Abstract
THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING STAFF OF OKLAHOMA CITY, IN RESPONSE TO THE OKLAHOMA CITY CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL (OCJC) REQUEST, SET ABOUT DEVELOPING A VICTIM ADVOCATE PROGRAM. IT WAS REALIZED BY THE OCJC STAFF THAT THE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE TO DEVELOP A GRANT PROPOSAL FOR A VICTIM ADVOCATE PROGRAM WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN-STATE. AS A RESULT, THIS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT WAS INITIATED. THIS REPORT PROVIDES ADVICE ON THE FOLLOWING AREAS: AN OPTIMAL MODEL FOR SERVICE DELIVERY, A PRE-IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY, COST-ESTIMATES FOR A VICTIM ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (VAP) WITH THREE OPTIONS, THE RANGE OF SERVICES A VAP MIGHT PROVIDE, QUALIFICATIONS RECOMMENDED FOR VAP PROFESSIONAL STAFF, MAIN COMPONENTS OF AN APPLICATION FOR A VAP, RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE MAKEUP OF A VAP ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDED OBJECTIVES AND EVALUATION COMPONENT, AND VAP PROCEDURES AND IMPLEMENTATION TIMETABLE.
