Abstract
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE POLICE SERVICE AIDE PROJECT IS PRESENTED AND A DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS ASSUMED BY THE AIDES IS PROVIDED. THE RESEARCH NECESSARY TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF REORGANIZATION NEEDED IN DEPARTMENTS PLANNING TO ADOPT A SIMILAR PROGRAM IS REVIEWED.
