THE IMPROVED LOWER COURT CASE HANDLING PROGRAM CONTAINS SUGGESTIONS FOR UPGRADING SOME LOWER COURT PRACTICES AND PROGRAMS THROUGH IMPROVED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT BASED UPON INTERAGENCY COOPERATION.
Abstract
ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. THESE INCLUDE THE MASS CASE COORDINATOR WHO IS IN CHARGE OF OVERSEEING ALL LOWER COURT CRIMINAL CASE PROCESSING OPERATIONS ACROSS FUNCTIONAL LINES, A POLICE CITATION SYSTEM, AND THE PROSECUTOR'S MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM. A SUMMONS SYSTEM CASE SCREENING SYSTEM, PRETRIAL RELEASE PROGRAM, SHORT FORM PRESENTENCE REPORT PROCEDURE, AND SELECTED OFFENDER PROBATION POLICY COMPLETE THE ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM. SAMPLE FORMS AND WORKSHEETS ARE INCLUDED IN APPENDIXES. SOURCES OF FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THE PROGRAM ARE PROVIDED.
