A SUMMARY OF THE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS OF THIS COMMITTEE WHICH ATTEMPTS TO AID WITNESSES AND CRIME VICTIMS, DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF VICTIM-WITNESS PROBLEMS, AND ENCOURAGE NEW VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THE NATIONAL DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION IDENTIFIED THE AREA OF VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE AS ONE OF ITS CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPROVEMENT PRIORITIES, AND CREATED THE COMMISSION ON VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE IN AN EFFORT TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THERE ARE IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENTS WHICH CAN BE MADE TO AMELIORATE THE HARM DONE BY CRIMINALS AND INSENSITIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE CHRONOLOGY OF COMMISSION ACTIVITIES, THE PUBLIC INFORMATION ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMISSION, THE SERVICES OF THE COMMISSION, SURVEY RESEARCH, AND THE PROGRAMS OF THE EIGHT FIELD OFFICES.
