Abstract
A BRIEF HISTORICAL SURVEY PRECEDES A MORE DETAILED EXAMINATION OF RECENT RESEARCH AND TREATMENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE AREA OF CONTROLLED SOCIAL DRINKING. A MODEL BASED ON THESE DEVELOPMENTS AND ADAPTED TO A PENAL SETTING IS DESCRIBED. RESULTS OF THE PROGRAM ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO SOME OF THE COMPLEXITIES AND ADVANTAGES OF ITS USAGE WITH PRISON INMATES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
