THIS MODEL MANUAL DESCRIBES POSSIBLE CONTENT AREAS AND POLICIES, PROVIDES A SAMPLE MANUAL FORMAT, AND PRESENTS SAMPLE FORMS AND LETTERS TO AID CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISIONS TO CONSTRUCT THEIR OWN MANUALS.
Abstract
THE AUTHORS OF THE MODEL MANUAL NOTE THAT THE STATEMENTS OF POLICY AND PROCEDURE INCLUDED IN THE MANUAL ARE ONLY PROVIDED AS EXAMPLES, AND ARE NOT NECESSARILY ENDORSED BY THE COMMITTEE ON THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL. AMONG THE AREAS COVERED IN THE MODEL MANUAL ARE THE BASIS FOR THE CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION, THE ORGANIZATION OF THE DIVISION, THE DIVISION PERSONNEL AND LIBRARY PROCEDURES, THE STAFF OF THE DIVISION, PROCEDURES FOR RECEIVING AND INVESTIGATING COMPLAINTS, METHODS OF RESOLVING COMPLAINTS, FILING AND INDEXING, AND PUBLICATIONS, REPORTS, AND PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAMS. SAMPLE FORMS ARE PROVIDED IN THE APPPENDICES OF THE MODEL MANUAL. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS REPORT ARE SUGGESTIONS ON THE PREPARATION AND EFFECTIVE USE OF MANUALS IN ATTORNEYS GENERAL'S OFFICES.
