Abstract
A CASE HISTORY MAKES UP THE CORE OF THE FILM. DEALING BRIEFLY WITH THE SUBJECT'S EARLY LIFE, HIS FIRST ADULT ARREST IS SHOWN. CHARGED WITH BURGLARY, LARCENY, ASSAULT, AND OTHER OFFENSES, SELECTED PORTIONS OF THE DEFENDANT'S TRIAL ARE SHOWN. SENTENCED TO THREE TO TEN YEARS IN THE STATE PENITENTIARY, THE INMATE IS DENIED PAROLE FOR NOT HAVING PARTICIPATED IN ANY PROGRAMS. INTERSPERSED THROUGH THE STORY ARE DISCUSSIONS OF PRISON CONDITIONS AND THE EFFECTS OF IMPRISONMENT. THE FILM CONTAINS AN EXPLICIT PLEA FOR ENLIGHTENED CORRECTIONS.
