BOOK ILLUSTRATING THE PROCESSES OF DECISION MAKING IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM BY TRACING AN ACTUAL HOMICIDE CASE FROM INITIAL POLICE CALL THROUGH REARREST OF THE PAROLEE FIVE YEARS LATER.
Abstract
THIS CASE WAS SELECTED FOR STUDY BECAUSE IT PRESENTS THE READER WITH A HOMICIDE CASE INVOLVING A JURY TRIAL, AN APPEAL WHICH CHANGED THE COURSE OF CRIMINAL LAW, AND A PRISON SENTENCE. EVERY DOCUMENT OF SIGNIFICANT LEGAL IMPORTANCE HAS BEEN REPRODUCED IN THE BOOK TO GIVE THE READER VISUAL FAMILIARITY WITH DOCUMENTS TYPICALLY ENCOUNTERED IN CRIMINAL CASES AND TO PLACE THE READER IN THE POSITION OF THE DECISION MAKERS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
