A ROLE-PLAYING TEAM COMPETITION BETWEEN MIDDLE-MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES OF THE PHILADELPHIA PRISON SYSTEM PROVED BENEFICIAL AND LED TO INSIGHTS IN DEVELOPING A CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HOSTAGE-TAKING SITUATIONS.
Abstract
TWO TEAMS OF MIDDLE MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL WERE ASKED TO DESIGN AND PRESENT A PLAN FOR DEALING WITH HOSTAGE SITUATIONS. THE PLANS WERE PRESENTED AND THE WINNING TEAM WAS SELECTED. THESE TEAMS WERE THAN COMBINED AND ASKED TO PRODUCE A PLAN WITH THE BEST POINTS OF EACH OF THE COMPETITIVE PLANS. PARTICIPANTS IN THIS TRAINING PROGRAM RATED IT AS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE.
