DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY OF ALL FORENSIC SCIENCE/CRIMINALISTICS DEGREE PROGRAMS IN THE UNITED STATES.
Abstract
TWENTY-TWO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WERE IDENTIFIED, INCLUDING GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY, WASHINGTON, D.C., WHICH DOES NOT OFFER A DEGREE BUT DOES GIVE A CERTIFICATE IN THE EXAMINATION OF QUESTIONED DOCUMENTS. DATA IS PROVIDED ON THE YEAR PROGRAMS WERE ESTABLISHED, THE POSITION HELD BY THE PROGRAM WITHIN THE TOTAL UNIVERSITY, TYPES OF DEGREES AWARDED, NUMBER OF DEGREES AWARDED IN THE PAST ACADEMIC YEAR AND SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE PROGRAM, CURRENT ENROLLMENT, GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT, AND AVAILABLE FACILITIES, LABORATORIES, AND EQUIPMENT. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE SURVEY RESPONSES RELATING TO THE EXISTENCE OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS, CURRICULUM, AND DEGREE REQUIREMENTS.
