THE PRIMARY EMPHASIS OF THIS FOUR-PROJECT STUDY WAS TO DEFINE HOW THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE PROVIDED ACCESS TO LOCAL PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES IN THE SAN DIEGO REGION.
Abstract
ALSO INVESTIGATED WAS HOW THESE AGENCIES SYSTEMATICALLY SHOULD PROCESS AND RESPOND TO THOSE REQUESTS FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. PROJECT D WAS A STUDY AIMED AT CONCEPTUALIZING THE DESIGN OF AN AUTOMATED REGIONAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (ARJIS) WHICH COULD SERVICE ALL THE LAW AND JUSTICE AGENCIES IN THE SAN DIEGO REGION. THE STUDY HAD A SECONDARY GOAL OF IDENTIFYING BRIEFLY OTHER ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSING APPLICATIONS OF INTEREST TO INDIVIDUAL AGENCIES AND INTEGRATING THEM INTO A PHASED IMPLEMENTATION PLAN. THIS REPORT, THE FIRST OF TWO VOLUMES, DOCUMENTS THE RESULTS, OF THIS STUDY. IT CONTAINS A MANAGEMENT OVERVIEW, A DETAILED IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, A PROPOSED ORGANIZATIONAL APPROACH TO IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATION OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM, AND A STATEMENT OF POLICY IMPLICATIONS.
