PAPER DEVELOPING THE IDEA THAT HUMAN SERVICES PRODUCTION, SUCH AS NEIGHBORHOOLD POLICING AND HEALTH CARE, DIFFERS FROM OTHER PUBLIC SERVICES IN WAYS THAT MAKE LARGE-SCALE ORGNAIZATIONS LESS ABLE TO DELIVER SERVICES EFFECTIVELY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A SET OF MODELS WHICH CAN BE USED TO FORM THE OUTLINE FOR RESEARCH INTO THE OPERATION OF HUMAN SERVICES DELIVERY. THE DISCUSSION TAKES THE POSITION THAT HUMAN SERVICE DELIVERY CAN BE IMPROVED BY REVISING ACTIVITIES TO EXPLICITLY ENCOURAGE COPRODUCTION BETWEEN AGENTS AND SERVICE SUBJECTS. FORMS OF ORGANIZATION WHICH MAY FACILITIATE COPRODUCTION OF SERVICES ARE THEN CONSIDERED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
