GROUP MEMBERSHIP AND PROCESSES PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE IN THREE MAJOR TYPES OF JUVENILE CRIME IN WEST GERMANY: GANG CRIME, VIOLENT CRIME, AND DRUG ABUSE.
Abstract
THE EXPERIENCES OF WEST GERMAN JUVENILE COURTS CONFORM TO THE FINDINGS OF AMERICAN AND BRITISH STUDIES ON THE SUBJECT, THAT BETWEEN EIGHTY AND NINETY PERCENT OF ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR BY JUVENILES IS CONNECTED WITH JUVENILE GROUP PROCESSES. THE ARTICLE ARGUES THAT THESE SAME GROUP PROCESSES CAN BE USED AS A BASIS FOR SOCIAL INTERVENTION AND RESOCIALIZATION. --IN GERMAN
