Abstract
PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS ARE MEASURED AGAINST THE PROVISIONS OF VARIOUS WEST GERMAN STATE AND FEDERAL CODES OF CORRECTIONAL PROCEDURE AS WELL AS AGAINST DRAFT PROPOSALS FOR CODES IN GERMANY AND SWITZERLAND. EXAMINED ARE PRISON ARCHITECTURE, TREATMENT-OFFENDER MATCHING, CORRECTIONAL STAFF TRAINING, SECURITY, DISCIPLINE, MEDICAL SERVICES, WORK TRAINING AND LEISURE TIME PROGRAMS, INMATE ORGANIZATIONS, CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD, AND PRERELEASE PROGRAMS.
