THIS REPORT EXAMINES THE EXTENT OF THE SOCIAL INCAPACITY OF INMATE, ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT SEVERE SOCIAL MALFUNCTIONING REFLECTS BASIC ATTITUDES AND TRAITS WHICH ARE SO DEVIANT THAT THEY MAY BE TERMED DISORDERED.
Abstract
SEVENTY-TWO INMATES WERE DIAGNOSED - 80 PERCENT OF THEM WERE FOUND TO HAVE A MENTAL ABNORMALITY, USUALLY PERSONALITY DISORDER OR ALCOHOLISM. OTHER DIAGNOSES INCLUDED SCHIZOPHRENIA, DEPRESSION, NEUROSIS, ALCOHOLISM, DRUG DEPENDENCE, AND SUBNORMALITY.
