A MATHEMATICAL MODEL IS PRESENTED FOR USE IN DETERMINING THE COST EFFECTIVENESS OF VARIOUS DISTRIBUTIONS OF POLICE PERSONNEL FOR ACHIEVING AN EVENLY DISTRIBUTED RISK OF CRIME PER CAPITA FOR ALL DISTRICTS OF A CITY.
Abstract
WHEN THE DISTRIBUTION OF CRIME IS THE SAME IN ALL DISTRICTS DUE TO THE PREVENTIVE ACTION OF DEPLOYED POLICE, THE MODEL BECOMES INAPPROPRIATE IN THAT EACH CRIME EVENT IS NO MORE PREDICTABLE IN ONE DISTRICT THAN ANOTHER, AND FURTHER CHANGES IN DEPLOYMENT ARE FRUITLESS.
