DESIGNING AND CONSTRUCTING A STATE CRIME LABORATORY CAN BE A REWARDING EXPERIENCE - THE REWARD BEING AN EFFICIENT LABORATORY WITH GOOD WORKING CONDITIONS SUCH AS THE WESTERN WASHINGTON STATE CRIME LABORATORY.
Abstract
ESSENTIAL TO THE PROPER DESIGN OF SUCH A FACILITY IS COOPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE ARCHITECT AND LABORATORY OFFICIALS. OTHER PLANNING CRITERIA INCLUDE ACCURATE WORKLOAD PROJECTIONS, STAFF INVOLVEMENT, FUNCTIONAL PLANNING, OPENNESS OF DESIGN (GLASS WALLS HELP HERE), AESTHETICS, SECURITY PLANNING, EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS, AND HIGH QUALITY CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS.
