REVIEW OF STUDIES CARRIED OUT IN JAPAN AND COMPARISON OF THE RESULTS WITH STUDIES PERFORMED IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
Abstract
THE REVIEW FOUND THAT THE FREQUENCIES OF X-CHROMATIN POSITIVE MALES AND X-CHROMATIN EXCESS FEMALES FOR MENTALLY RETARDED, MENTALLY-ILL, AND OFFENDER POPULATIONS ARE NOT SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN JAPAN THAN IN OTHER COUNTRIES. STUDIES IN ALL COUNTRIES SHOWED HIGHER FREQUENCY OF X-CHROMATIN POSITIVE MALES IN MILDLY RETARDED THAN IN SEVERELY RETARDED POPULATIONS. INDIVIDUALS WITH ABNORMAL X-CHROMATIN AMONG JUVENILE DELINQUENTS AND CRIMINALS SEEM TO BELONG TO THE LOWER INTELLIGENCE LEVELS, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT IMPAIRED INTELLIGENCE INTERVENES BETWEEN SEX CHROMOSOME ANOMALIES AND CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.
