THIS ESSAY IS A CRITIQUE OF THE BASIC ORIENTATION OF THE FINAL REPORT OF THE NATIONAL COMMISSION ON THE CAUSES AND PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR CONTENDS THAT THE OPERATIVE DEFINITION OF VIOLENCE IN THE REPORT DETERMINED THE NATURE AND RESULTS OF THE STUDY AND THAT THE REPORT IS A POLITICAL INSTRUMENT WITH POLITICAL OBJECTIVES. THE ORIENTATION OF THE REPORT IS THEN APPRAISED IN TERMS OF RESPONSES TO DOMESTIC ORDER.
