THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE WORK OF THE ACADEMY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCIENCE (ACJS) ACCREDITATION AND STANDARDS COMMITTEE IN DEVELOPING ACCREDITATION GUIDELINES FOR POSTSECONDARY CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
Abstract
AFTER BRIEFLY OUTLINING THE RISE AND DEVELOPMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THE 1960'S AND 1970'S, THE AUTHOR EXPLAINS THE RATIONALE FOR THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION ACCREDITATION GUIDELINES ADOPTED BY THE ACADEMY. FURTHER EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THE GOAL OF HAVING THE ACJS RECOGNIZED AS THE ACCREDITING AGENCY FOR POSTSECONDARY CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
