Abstract
THE TEXT BEGINS WITH SOME BACKGROUND MATERIAL ON THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR STUDENT DISCIPLINE. MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ENFORCING A RULE OF STUDENT CONDUCT ARE DELINEATED. THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES DRESS AND APPEARANCE, HAIRSTYLES, AND THE WEARING OF BUTTONS OR EMBLEMS AS AREAS OF DISCIPLINE CONCERN IN SCHOOLS. OTHER AREAS OF CONDUCT TREATED INCLUDE SECRET SOCIETIES, STUDENT PUBLICATIONS, AND MARRIAGE AND PARENTHOOD. EACH AREA IS ILLUSTRATED WITH THE PARTICULARS AND RESULTS OF PERTINENT COURT CASES.
