EVALUATION OF A PROJECT THAT WAS FUNDED IN MARCH, 1976, TO STIMULATE AND COORDINATE THE PROVISION OF TEMPORARY SHELTER CARE IN PRIVATE HOMES FOR JUVENILE STATUS OFFENDERS IN TWO COUNTIES IN DELAWARE.
Abstract
PRIOR TO THIS SUBGRANT, FEW SHELTER CARE FACILITIES WERE AVAILABLE IN KENT AND SUSSEX COUNTIES. EFFORTS OF THE PROJECT STAFF ALSO INCLUDED COUNSELING OF THE JUVENILE CLIENTS TO HELP THEM RECONCILE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR NATURAL FAMILIES. AS OF NOVEMBER, 1976, ONE SHELTER HOME WAS ESTABLISHED AND FOUR STATUS OFFENDERS WERE HOUSED, TWO OF WHOM HAVE SINCE BEEN REUNITED WITH THEIR NATURAL FAMILIES. AS A RESULT OF THIS EVALUATION, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE PROJECT SEEK CONTINUATION OF FUNDS THROUGH APPROPRIATE AGENCIES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)...KAP
