THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE ENGINEERING DESIGN, MANAGEMENT, IMPLEMENTATION GUIDES, AND COSTS OF A REGIONAL 911 SYSTEM TO SERVE THE FOUR OREGON COUNTIES: CLACKAMAS, COLUMBIA, MULTNOMAH, AND WASHINGTON.
Abstract
THE 911 SYSTEM FOR THE COLUMBIA REGION ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (CRAG) HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AS A TWO STAGE SYSTEM - THE 911 TELEPHONE ANSWERING CENTER AND THE RADIO DISPATCHING OF THE FIELD UNITS ARE SEPARATE OPERATIONS. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE TELEPHONE ANSWERING FUNCTION, WHILE A SEPARATE REPORT (NCJ-39533) DESCRIBES THE RADIO DISPATCH FUNCTION. AS A RESULT OF THE PHASE I OF THIS STUDY, CRAG ELECTED TO OBTAIN DETAILED ENGINEERING DESIGN OF A REGIONAL 911 ANSWERIG CENTER AND FOUR COUNTY-WIDE CENTRAL DISPATCH CENTERS. THIS REPORT DETAILS THE DESIGN OF THE REGIONAL ANSWERING CENTER (RAC) TO SERVE THE CRAG AREA THROUGH THE YEAR 2000. INCLUDED IN THIS REPORT ARE A SUMMARY OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES AND TELEPHONE COMPANY OFFICES WHICH MUST BE INCORPORATED INTO THE ANSWERING SYSTEM.
